Futures Report

commish@fantasybaseballgeeks.com   - 4/4/2008

It is time to reveal 2008's Six Pack of Aces.   Last season we tracked the progress of some of the biggest pitching prospects in the game:   Lincecum, Gallardo, Hughes, Bailey, Andrew & Adam Miller.   All except for Adam Miller, due to injury, made it to the Show in 2007 and three of them were fantasy must haves this off season.

For 2008, we are again going to track the 6 best pitching prospects that have not yet set foot in the majors.   The purpose of this spotlight is to help those who don't scour through minor league box scores on a daily basis and shed some light as to whom the next big pitching prospect will be and when they have a chance to get called up. For the initial rankings they will be placed in the order that they appeared in last week's Top 50 Prospect List.

So without further ado, here is the 2008 Six Pack of Aces:

Clayton Kershaw, LAD...Throws: L, Age: 20, Opening Day Start: AA Jacksonville

Icon SMI

Nick Adenhart, LAA...Throws: R, Age: 21, Opening Day Start: AAA Salt Lake
Rick Porcello, Det...Throws: R, Age: 19, Opening Day Start: Hi A Lakeland
David Price, TB...Throws: L, Age: 22, Opening Day Start: Hi A Vero Beach
Wade Davis, TB...Throws: R, Age: 22, Opening Day Start: AA Montgomery
Fautino de los Santos, Oak...Throws: R, Age: 22, Opening Day Start: Hi A Stockton

Those who didn't qualify for the Aces because they have pitched in the majors: Homer Bailey, Cin; Franklin Morales, Col; Luke Hochevar, KC.

He who didn't qualify for the Aces because he was an Ace last year: Adam Miller, Cle.   (But we will keep a close eye on him for you)

If I could afford a 12-pack I would have also included: Jarrod Parker, Ari (still a little too far away); Gio Gonzalez, Oak; Chris Volstad, Fla; Jake McGee, TB; Max Scherzer, Ari; Ross Detwiler, Was.

The minor league season started on Thursday so come back next week as we start monitoring all of the minor league action.   Make sure you don't miss out on the next big rookie sensation.
