FBG Players of the Week
With the third scoring period over, I give to you the Fantasy Players of the week. There will be certain weeks where the MLB Players of the Week will be the same as those chosen here. However, this is all about the fantasy world. I am forced to overlook game winning performances and take solely in to account, the gaudy numbers.
Hitter of the Week
The top contenders this week are mostly names you'll expect to see here over and over. Names like Chase Utley and Manny Ramirez to name a couple. Both had huge weeks. Utley with 5 dingers and a .391 AVG, and Manny hit 4 (a couple of game winners) and batted .417.
For me, it really came down to two players; Chipper Jones and Conor Jackson . Its hard to overlook Jackson's .480 AVG., 10 R and 10 RBI to go along with 3 round-trippers. But on the other hand, Chipper hit .565 for the week! And 4 HR to go along with 6 runs and 7 runs batted in. Did you hear what I just said, five-sixty-five? This one's almost too close to call. In a 4x4 format it would have to be a shared honor, but with this column focusing on 5x5, we have a tie-breaker. And with 1 stolen base on the week, this weeks winner is Conor Jackson.

Pitcher of the Week
Unlike the hitters' category, the pitchers are names you would really not expect to see here. But one thing you can count on is, the winner will almost always be a two-start pitcher. Occasionally a closer may pop into contention, but not this week. In my opinion as soon as I looked over the numbers I had the winner picked. There were some good performers this week: Andy Pettitte , Ervin Santana , and Scott Olsen . But there can be only one. John Danks . There's really not much to say about him, as his numbers do all the talking. 2 W, 12 K, and a minuscule ERA and WHIP of 0.00 and 0.68. He's not ready to anchor anyone's staff just yet, but this is a step in the #2 or #3 starter direction.
Last weeks winners: Albert Pujols and Cole Hamels
